POONCH, Jan 16: Locals staged protest and halted traffic movement for some time against Dharam Raj Construction (DRC) company for cutting work along the residential houses which can cause damage in Draba area of Surankote in Poonch district today.
Protestors while raising slogans said that this company is working on Baffliaz- Surankote road since long and despite many protests the work has not been completed yet, while during last night the cutting work was taken up along the residential houses which can cause damage to many at any time despite being asked to leave some space between houses and road and to construct protection wall along with cutting so that houses or any other structure many not get damaged.
Sheraz Malik and other locals said that the company workers are doing work on their own without any monitoring by seniors, while no compensation has been given to the people here. The Deputy Commissioner Poonch, SDM Surankote and other concerned authorities must look into the matter, they said.
Meanwhile SDM Surankote Rizwan Qureshi and Station House Officer Surankote Rajesh Thapa reached the protest spot and assured people to take up this issue with the concerned company officials.
