POONCH, May 18: Inhabitants of Kehnu area in Poonch staged protest against Jal Shakti Department and blocked main road for several hours on Wednesday.
Locals raised slogans against the department and said that people of Kehnu village are suffering due to non-availability of drinking water for the last two and half months.
“We intimated and urged concerned authorities to restore the line but no one shows the interest resulting, we are here on roads,” they said.
Sarpanch Kehnu said that he had asked XEn, Jal Shakti Deptt Poonch to send employees to restore the gravity line but no one came to redress the issue. He said Government has spent crores on water schemes but still many are lying defunct.
Later, XEn Jal Shakti, Naib Tehsildar Mandi, SHO Mandi and other officers came on the spot and assured people to redress the issue. They directed the employees to restore the line at the earliest and also sought a detailed report on the issue.
