POONCH, Nov 28: Residents of Jogimorh area of Surankote in Poonch staged protest against Jal Shakti Department for water problem in their area since long.
Alleging the failure of Jal Shakti Department, a large number of people including women and children sat on road with empty utensils, blocked Jammu-Poonch highway for some time and raised slogans against the concerned department. Click here to watch video
They claimed that they are continuously suffering due to non availability of water in ward number 1, 2 and 3 at Jogi Morh, Surankote, for which people several times approached concerned Jal Shakti Department officials but no action in this regard was observed. No official paid any heed to the public plight.
The protestors warned administration to resolve issue within two days otherwise they will be compelled to protest on the highway and blocked it for hours.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer Surankote, Inspector Rajveer Singh along with his team reached the spot and pacified the protestors with an assurance to take up the matter with concerned department.
