JAMMU, Feb 2: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration outside Maa Durga temple in Vikram Chowk as there is a liquor shop 10 feet away from the temple.
The protesters demanded immediate closure and relocation of liquor shops near religious places and educational institutions.
The protest was staged under the leadership of Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni and the protesters peacefully expressed resentment holding placards with ‘Stop liquor sale near Religious and Educational Institutions’ written on them.
Sahni said that 50 such shops have been identified in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur against which their campaign will continue.
He also said that in J&K about one million people have become drug addicts.
The Shiv Sena leader said that a memorandum has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary of J&K in this regard.
Shiv Sena general secretary Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Sanjeev Kohli; president Kamghar wing, Raj Singh, Balwant, Rakesh, Girdhari, Mukesh Kumar, Aman, Pankaj and others were also present on this occasion.
