UDHAMPUR, Dec 30: The ongoing protest demonstration by the locals along with volunteers of Dogra Kranti Dal against the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Municipal Council (MC) Udhampur here today entered day 3.
The protesters expressed resentment against the harassment of poor street vendors and daily wage earners in the town.
Addressing protesters, Vishal Singh claimed that the CEO forcibly seized Rehris (carts) and goods of small vendors without any prior notice thereby hitting their livelihood.
They demanded immediate transfer of the CEO and held him responsible for deteriorating condition of street vendors and small traders in the town.
Raising slogans in favour of their demands, the protesters vowed to continue their peaceful agitation until justice is served and the CEO is removed.
They urged Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to intervene and ensure that the seized goods are returned to the affected persons.
Pawan Singh, a local resident on protest, warned to intensify the protest if their demands are not met soon.
The protest received widespread support from the locals.
