Protest against misuse of official machinery in polls

JAMMU, Nov 27: Alleging misuse of official machinery for Legislative Council (LC) polls to be held under the Panchayat quota, National Panthers Party (NPP) staged an anti-Government protest here today.
Led by Coordination Secretary Jagdev Singh, NPP activists held a demonstration alleging the Government was misusing official machinery for LC polls.
Raising anti-Government slogans, they torched the effigies of Chief Minister and Election Commission.
While speaking, Jagdev Singh said that the Government is misusing official machinery to garner votes of Panchs and Sarpanchs for coalition party candidates for the LC polls.
Singh alleged that the Ministers are using their official vehicles with red light and using the Government accommodation whereas they are denied the Government accommodation in Dak-Bungalows.
Panthers Party demanded cancellation of this election as both the NC and Congress and Election Commission are hand in glove to rig the elections in their favour.
Among others present were Rajesh Pargotra, provincial general secretary, Shanker Singh Chib and Thakur Kamal Singh Jamwal, provincial secretaries, Hari Singh, district president, Jammu Rural, Pusvinder Singh Manhas, senior vice president, Young Panthers, Manoj Kumar, secretary, Ravinder Singh Jamwal, district president, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh and Partap Singh, president, National Panthers Student Union (NPSU).
