SAMBA, June 10: Apni Party leaders today accompanied by a large number of locals in Vijaypur staged a peaceful protest demonstration against Northern Railways claiming that hundreds of people in Gurah Morh and Raya Morh face difficulties daily because there is no flyover at railway track.
The protesters led by Apni Party provincial president Jammu and former Minister, S. Manjit Singh and raised slogans against Union Railway Ministry for failing to address the issues on ground in villages alongside railway tracks and stations in Jammu, Samba and Kathua.
The protesters send a memorandum of demands to Union Railway Ministry through SDM Vijaypur.
Manjit Singh said that hundreds of people, Utterbani-Purmandal pilgrims, students and staff of Central University Jammu and others have to face problems in routine because there is no flyover.
“The people have to wait for hours together for the train to pass after which they proceed towards their destinations. Hence, there is an urgent requirement for flyovers at railway track in Gurah Morh and Raya Morh,” he said.
He said that the issue was raised many times before railways authorities which paid no heed it often led to mishaps on the tracks.
Singh said that the under-passage constructed underneath railway tracks are narrow and only motorbikes and cars can pass through these. So these should be widened so that trucks and tippers can also pass through these passages.
