Protest against opening of wine shop near temple, school

UDHAMPUR, June 17: Up in arms against proposed opening of a liquor shop near temples and Girls High School Jaganoo, a strong protest was held by locals, led by Councillor Priti Khajuria and Ex- Councillor Ashwani Khajuria.
The protesting people expressed anger over proposed opening of liquor shops near temple and girls’ school in Jaganoo. Ashwani Khajuria alleged that Naib Tehsildar of Jaganoo prepared a wrong report over the issue.
“On the one hand, the Government talks about a Nasha Mukt Bharat, on the other hand, liquor shops are being opened by the Government near schools and religious places,” he said.
Priti Khajuria also said that on one hand the Government talks about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and on the other hand it promotes opening of liquor shops near educational institutions. “Govt seems least bother about the society,’ she alleged.
Panch, Sarpanch and prominent persons of Jaganoo took part in the protest demonstration.
