AKHNOOR, July 14: The local resident from Kashmiri Mohalla, Pacca Danga (Akhnoor) and adjoining areas held protest demonstration against PDD authorities this evening and blocked Jammu-Jourian and Poonch road for about two hours this evening.
The locals including women and children came out on the road near `Fawara Chowk’ in the town here at around 6 pm and started protest. They were raising slogans against PDD and senior officers of the department. They raised barricades and blocked the road. The traffic remained suspended on the road.
The agitating people alleged that four days back, the electric transformer installed in the Mohalla went out of order. It was replaced only yesterday. It went out of order again today. They alleged substandard work being done at the PDD workshops and demanded action against the concerned staff members. They raised slogans against PDD Chief Engineer, Executive Engineer concerned and urged the Chief Minister who is also holding charge of PDD portfolio to initiate inquiry in such cases as it is happening at many places and public is the worst sufferer. There is no accountability and no check on sub-standard work.
