Protest against power cuts, poor water supply

SAMBA, May 30: People from several villages of Ramgarh area blocked Vijaypur-Nandpur road near Gadwal today and held protest demonstration against the power cuts and poor supply of drinking water.
Reports said the villagers assembled near Gadwal, on main Vijaypur-Ramgarh-Nandpur road at round 10.30 am today and started protest demonstration and dharna. Local National Panthers Party leader Rajesh Padgotra was leading. The villagers were raising slogans against PDD and PHE authorities.
They alleged that due to long and unscheduled power cuts, the people are facing lot of hardships. The water supply has also badly hit for the last nearly one month. They shouted slogans against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who holds the Power portfolio and PHE Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din. The traffic remained disrupted on the road for about an hour. Later, with the intervention of police the road was cleared.
Similar protest demonstration was held at Patti village near Raya against power curtailments. The villagers led by Sarpanch raised slogans against the PDD authorities and demanded that power supply situation be improved. These villagers warned to block National Highway for hours together if the supply was not improved within days.
