RAJOURI, Apr 18: To voice their strong opposition to the recently proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, a peaceful protest was held here today.
The protestors raised serious concerns regarding the implications of the bill and unanimously demanded its immediate rollback.
Local religious leaders, civil society members and prominent citizens addressed the gathering.
Chanting slogans and holding placards, the demonstrators expressed their discontent, stating that the bill is not in the interest of the Muslim community and directly interferes with the religious and administrative autonomy of the Waqf institutions.
They asserted that the amendment threatens to centralize control and undermines the community’s long-standing rights over their religious endowments and properties.
The speakers urged the Government to reconsider the move in the larger interest of communal harmony and religious freedom.
