Protest at BG, Manjakote in support of Shabir Khan

JAMMU, Feb 10: The people from Balakote area and Manjakote held strong protest demonstration at Bhimber Gali and Manjakote town today in support of ousted Minister of State for Health (Ind) Shabir Khan, facing sexual harassment charges and blocked Jammu-Poonch road for several hours.
A large number of people including Sarpanchs and Panchs from Balakote block reached BG and started protest demonstration. They raised barricades and blocked busy Jammu-Poonch highway for about three hours. They were shouting slogans in support of former Minister Shabir Khan. They claimed that Shabir Khan, an MLA from Rajouri and Ex-MoS Health became victim of the political conspiracy and was removed by the Chief Minister. They demanded that Shabir be taken back in the Ministry as he was innocent.
The people held strong protest causing lot of inconvenience to the passengers stranded on the highway. Later, SDM Mendhar Romesh Kumar and SDPO Mendhar arrived at BG and persuaded the agitating villagers to lift dharna. They also told the villagers that their concern would be conveyed to the higher authorities. The people then lifted dharna and allowed movement of traffic.
Meanwhile, the people of Manjakote, the home town of former MoS Health, also held strong protest demonstration and blocked road for about two hours in support of Shabir Khan. The agitating people demanded that Shabir Khan be taken back in the ministry as he had fallen victim to political conspiracy. A large number of people also courted arrest but they were let off by cops. They claimed the Shabir Khan was innocent and has been trapped in false case at the behest of National Conference.
