A police official told the Excelsior that for about 500 vacancies in BSF over 15000 youth from various district arrived at the venue. Instead of calling them district wise on different dates, the concerned BSF authorities gave the same date for the recruitment rally to all. Due to heavy rush of youth, there was total chaos on the spot and the BSF jawans failed to control the huge gathering.
The recruits alleging mismanagement by the BSF authorities, staged protest demonstration and blocked the highway near Sohal Morh for about an hour. The traffic on this border road came to grinding halt. Some youth also resorted to stone pelting, however, there were no reports of any injury to anybody.
After some time Police party led by local SHO and SDPO Gurvinder Pal Singh arrived there. The police officers pacified the protesting youth. The traffic on the road was also restored.
“We acted promptly and with the help of BSF men, the situation was handled and the protestors dispersed when different dates for registration were announced on the spot,” the police official added.
