Protest over delay in relief distribution

SRINAGAR, Jan 1: Scores of families today protested against the delay in relief distribution to the flood affected people and alleged irregularitie.
The protesters raised anti- Government protests for its failure to provide any succor to them ahead of winter.
They alleged the State Government has turned blind eye towards their plight as not even a single family has been rehabilitated till date in the affected areas.
The angry protestors said that only Rs 3800 each to affected households were provided. “This is not a relief but mockery in the name of relief,” said one of the protesters.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Latief Ahmad Shah of Mehjoor Nagar also alleged that only Rs 3800 and Rs 1500 relief were given to them.
He said they have submitted documents for re-verification some two months back, but till date no relief was given to them.
Shah said, scores of families are living in rent accommodation and they are not in a position to meet their family expenses.
They appealed Government to address their genuine demands, so, that they could live normal life with dignity.
