Protest against health staff

MENDHAR, May 27: People from Dhar Galoon and adjoining areas held protest demonstration against the medical staff of local Primary Health Centre.
Reports said a 12th class girl student Razia Kouser, daughter of Mohd Shabir was brought to local hospital at around 8.15 pm last night. She had problem of vomiting and loose motions and the family members shifted her to Dhar Galoon PHC. While no one was available in the hospital, they moved to the quarter of Dr Mohd Latief, posted in the same hospital. The family alleged that despite repeated requests, the doctor did not attend the patient. Then they removed her to SDH Mendhar at around 10 pm.
In the morning, some relatives of the patient went to the hospital and complained to the Medical Officer about the matter and attitude of the Medical staff. In between they had altercation with Dr Latief and some other staff. They alleged that a doctor and staff abused them and even manhandled.
Later, relatives of the patient and some villagers went on the main Mendhar-BG road and at around 9. 30 and started protest demonstration on the road. They were raising slogans against the Health Department, demanding action against the doctor and Medical staff. The police party went to the spot and assured the agitating villagers to take up matter with BMO Mendhar and CMO Poonch.
