Protest held in Bandipore for removal of CRPF bunker

SRINAGAR, July 16: Hundreds of people today protested in Bandipora against the presence of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp and bunker in the main market of the district headquarter and demanded its removal.
The protest was led by tehsil president of Bandipora Awami Mahaz, Ghulam Hassan Mir, and the protesters marched in the Bandipora streets and demanded removal of a CRPF camp, that is in the Sate Bank of India (SBI) building.
The protesters said that the camp is in the SBI building for past 20 years and a main bunker has blocked the access to large number of villages.
The protesters were also demanding public lavatories at the district headquarter as the town lacks any toilet facilities due to which people have to suffer.
The protesters were also demanding more Ambulances for District hospital, Bandipora as hospital lacks ambulances with the result patients suffer.
The protesters also demanded uninterrupted power and water supply for the town and other areas during the Holy month of Ramadhan. However, the protesters dispersed peacefully after assurances from the district Administration.
The additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Ghulam Hassan, SSP Bandipora, Bashir Khan assured the protesters that the bunkers will be removed within a week.
The ADDC Bandipora assured that the issue of uninterrupted power supply and water supply will be given top priority and also gave on the spot directions for construction of lavatories in the township. Regarding the Ambulances, he said that the matter will be taken with the Director Health Services.
