UDHAMPUR, Jan 14: A large number of people from Chenani and adjoining areas held protest demonstration against the Power Development Department at tehsil headquarters Chenani today.
The people assembled at the main chowk in Chenani town and staged strong protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the concerned PDD authorities. They pointed out that due to long power cuts the people are facing lots of hardships.
They further alleged that the local PDD authorities recently replaced a transformer and instead of 5 MV, they installed 3.16 MV transformer. It has further aggravated the problem and moreover, unscheduled power curtailments have made life of the people very difficult. The protesters also blocked Chenani-Udhampur road for some time and disrupted movement of traffic. However, the traffic was later restored with the intervention of local police. The people demanded regular supply of power.
