Protest leads to NH blockade at Chadwal

KATHUA, Sept 17: Residents of Chadwal area held protest demonstration against the thrashing of local youth by a gypsy driver after an altercation between the two over the parking of vehicle in the middle of Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, this afternoon, leading to traffic jam on National Highway for some time.
According to the reports, a bus driver stopped the bus in the middle of the road, which forced a car driver to stop his four- wheeler also who was coming behind the bus. As the bus left, in the meantime a gypsy driver, who was also on the same way had a heated exchange with the car driver asking him why he stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road. The gypsy driver also thrashed the car driver.
The car driver being a local resident called his colleagues and friends in the area and they all assembled and protested on road against the gypsy driver, which led to huge traffic jam. The people passing from the National Highway had to face lot of inconvenience.
This irritated the commuters who criticised the administration saying traffic jam could have been avoided had the timely action been taken local administration. It may be recalled that this is a regular problem on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway which is creating public nuisance also.
