JAMMU, Feb 20: The protest by Gaddi Sippi communities in support of their demands entered fourth day here today.
Scores of community members under the banner of “All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association (GSTWA)” converged outside Press Club here and chanted high pitch slogans in support of their demands.
Lambasting the non responsive and apathetic stance of the State Government towards the long pending demands of Gaddi Sippi tribes, Parveen Jaryal, State organising secretary of the Association, earnestly urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to personally intervene into the matter and devise an effective strategy for mitigating the woes and sufferings of these tribes.
He also urged all the MLAs and MLCs to raise the issues of Gaddi Sippi tribes on the floor of State Legislature. He further demanded establishment of an Adisiory Board for Development of these tribes and suggested that till the Board is established Government should earmark funds for development of these tribes in annual budget every year.
He also demanded establishment of three Gaddi Sippi hostels, one each at Ramban, Bhaderwah and Bani, restart of ST prematric scholarship in favour of students of Gaddi Sippi tribes and representation to these tribes in District Development Boards, District ST advisory Groups and J&KSSB.
