Protest of PHE employees continues

JAMMU, Apr 16: The ongoing protest dharna of PHE employees and workers which had started yesterday over the move to terminate daily rated workers has entered second day, here today.
It may be recalled that the dharna was organized against the Circular 9 of General Administration Department (GAD) dated 26-03-2013 regarding termination of daily rated workers on job since 1994.
The employees gathered in large numbers and showed their resentment against alleged anti-employees policies of the State Government and the PHE Administrative Department Jammu.
The daily rated workers have been demanding their regularization after 5 years, disbursement of salary before 5th of every month, while the permanent employees were also stressing hard for conduct of DPC meeting against the vacant posts.
While addressing the employees in the premises of Chief Engineer PHE Department Jammu, Subash Chander Verma, association general secretary, said that the State Government is adamant and not serious about the demands and the burning problems of the PHE workers, adding that the Government has adopted criminal silence on the genuine issues of the daily rated workers. He warned the State Government and the concerned department for intensifying the strike if the demands of the employees and the workers are not conceded at an earliest.
Prominent among others who addressed the gathering were Omkar Sharma, Rattan Doshi, Vijay Singh, Lal Chand, Chuni Lal, Babu Singh, Surinder Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Ram Lubhaya, Manzoor Ali, Ram Parkash and Puran Chand.
