Protest over dilapidated road condition

POONCH, Oct 18: The shopkeepers today held protest over the dilapidated condition of main market road at Tehsil Mandi, in Poonch.
Protestors blocked road at Aalapir for about an hour and raised slogans against PWD departement as well as Tehsil and District administration.
Abdul Ahad Bhat, Mubasher Hussain and other protestors said that they were continuously approaching administration to macadamize main road from Bus Stand Mandi to Budha Amarnath temple which is in dilapidated condition since long, but they made hollow promises and no macadamization work on ground was taken up.
They said that a private company had paid about Rs 20 lakh for laying wires on this part of road, despite that the work is not being taken up.
“The dust have ruined our goods in the shops, and we are warning for a major protest on Friday if this road will not be macadamized,” a protester said.
Meanwhile, a Police Officer reached spot, a senior Officer of PWD department also assured on mobile phone to take up the Macadamization work after which protest was called off.
