Protest against PDD at Rajouri, Nowshera

RAJOURI, July 9: A large  number of  people from Hanjana Thathi village held strong protest at Nowshera  town and blocked road for about two hours today while residents of Gujjar Mandi and adjoining areas held protest against PDD authorities at Sher e- Kashmir bridge in Rajouri town here late this evening.
Reports said villagers from Hanjana Thathi in Nowshera tehsil came out on the road at Nowshera town and blocked road near Patel Chowk at around 11 am. They disrupted movement of traffic and held protest demonstration against PDD authorities for their failure to install electric transformer at the village which went out of order about 15 days back. The villagers were shouting slogans against PDD officers and field staff. They alleged that after 15 days PDD staff installed transformer last evening but that too, was found to be damaged as the power supply could not be restored at the village.
Later, Tehsildar and SHO Nowshera reached the spot and they also called AEE concerned there. The AEE assured to restore power by this evening and the agitating public then lifted dharna at around 1 pm.
Meanwhile, people from Rajouri town held strong protest demonstration against PDD for unscheduled power curtailment in the town near Sher-e-Kashmir bridge here this evening. The people blocked road at around 8.30 pm and started protest. They alleged that town was experiencing nearly 10 to 12 hour curtailment. They raised slogans against Chief Engineer, SE and Executive Engineer PDD Rajouri. They demanded that during the month of Ramzan, power supply be improved in the town. The protest was continued till 10.30 pm while no senior PDD official arrived there to give assurance to the public.
