POONCH, Sept 25: The villagers from Pathana Teer and adjoining hamlets in Mendhar Sub Division of district Poonch today held protest demonstration against the severe water scarcity in the area for the last about one month.
The residents of the area today assembled at the village on the road and started strong protest. They were shouting slogans against the PHE authorities for their failure to ensure regular supply of water to them. They alleged that the concerned PHE daily wagers are on strike for the last 3-4 weeks and other permanent staff is not performing duty to ensure supply of water.
They said the matter was brought to the notice of concerned AEE and JE at Mendhar but they failed to ensure regular supply of water in the area. The people warned to conduct `Gherao’ of PHE Sub Divisional office at Mendhar if the supply was not restored within two days.
