JAMMU, Feb 13: Protest rocked Chest Disease (CD) hospital, Bakshi Nagar after the death of a person this morning.
An irate mob along with the dead body of the deceased assembled at the main gate of the hospital, disrupted the vehicular movement on the most-busiest Bakshi Nagar road and held a protest against the hospital administration.
They raised slogans against the Health Department and hospital authorities, alleging negligence resulting into the death of a Sub Inspector (SI) Mohd Jan, son of Mohd Hussain, tehsil Mendhar, district Poonch, presently posted at Srinagar.
The family members of the deceased alleged that there is no proper facility in the hospital and no senior staff is available there.
Doctors prescribed various medicines, but there was no improvement in the condition of the patient, family members alleged.
Later officers from the hospital rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors assuring them to take up the matter with higher authorities.
When contacted Dr Rahul Gupta, Consultant, told the Excelsior that the patient was admitted in the hospital as he was suffering from TB and his left lung was also damaged.
Refuting the allegation, Dr Gupta said that there was no negligence in treating the said patient.
He added that the patient might had suffered heart attack as he was ailing from serious chest disease.
