MENDHAR, May 16: The people from Ari area of Mendhar Sub Division today held protest demonstration against PHE authorities for severe water scarcity in the area.
The people from Ari village and adjoining areas including women, assembled at Ari Chowk on Mendhar-Harni road at around 1 pm today and started protest demonstration against PHE authorities. They were shouting slogans against AEE PHE Mendhar and Executive Engineer , Poonch.
The villagers alleged that for the last three weeks, the people of the area have been facing severe scarcity of drinking water. There is no alternative arrangement by the concerned authorities and the people have been forced to fetch water from far off places in their own vehicles. The PHE pipes have been broken at many places and a local pumping station is also lying out of order. The concerned PHE officials were informed about the matter but they have not taken cognizance of the matter.
With the intervention of SDPO, Mendhar, Riaz Tantray, the road was then got cleared by police at around 2 pm. The movement vehicles was then restored.
