JAMMU, May 17: On fourth day of their ongoing token strike for regularization, the Jammu University class IV employees and casual labourers took out a peaceful rally on the campus and suspended work for three hours.
Carrying black flags and placards, the protesting employees raised slogans against the JU administration and in support of their demands, which include regularization of the casual labourers who have completed seven years in service, removal of pay anomalies, timely promotion benefits, re-organisation of JU administration etc. They also held demonstration in front of the Administration block and staged a sit-in there.
While addressing the dharna, president of JU Non-Gazetted Employees Union, Krishan Chand and general secretary Vijay Kumar accused the JU administration of resorting to suppressive methods against the protesting employees and casual labourers who were only demanding justice to them.
