JAMMU, Jan 29: Police evicted some Engineering students who were protesting at Jammu University campus demanding online examinations instead of offline mode.
The protesting students of 3rd, 5th and 7th semester claimed that they were not mentally prepared for offline examinations as no class work was held during the session because of COVID-19. After holding protest demonstration on the JU campus in the evening, they decided to stage indefinite dharna in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat.
On the request of JU authorities, Police swung into action and evicted the protesting students. According to some protesters, a few of them were taken into custody. However, Police denied the use of force or detention of any student.
