Srinagar, Aug 20: The Union of Victims of Police Personnel Families today blamed the administration for not taking their cases under SRO 376 seriously and making them suffer for no fault of theirs.
During a protest demonstration held here in the Press Enclave, the family members of the policemen demanded speedy disposal of cases.

They said that since the Governor’s rule only a single file under the said SRO has been cleared while as scores of such cases are gathering dust in the offices.
“Chief Secretary is to be asked why he isn’t clearing our cases, if this SRO is wrong, then, tell us and at the same time cancelled all other appointments made under the said SRO,” said Shahnawaz from Kupwara.
“We have met the Governor thrice, we met the Advisors umpteen times; there is not a single person whom we have not met in the Secretariat,” they said
He said that 48 cases were cleared during the PDP-BJP Government since then, nothing really has happened.
“DGP has nodded those cases even the Home Department, but the Chief Secretary is not clearing the cases,” they said.
The protestors urged the LG Manoj Sinha to take personal interest in getting the cases cleared. “If these are wrong, okay, then those who were compensated under the said SRO, their cases should also be cancelled,” they said.
