JAMMU, Nov 29: Congress has said that the large scale resentment shown by the people especially the elected Sarpanchs and Panchs from various parts of Jammu Region have exposed the hollow claims of development at grass- root level during past three years.
PCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma while reacting to the reports from various area with regard to resentment expressed by the people especially grass root level representatives during the “Back to Village” campaign said, it is indicative of the ground reality and the hollowness of false claims of massive development during past 3 years. He said that resentment being shown by the villagers led by Sarpanchs shows that there is lot of difference between the hollow claims of BJP leaders in Jammu Region regarding development and fulfilling the basic needs of people in rural area.
Sharma said that large sized hoardings alongside roads have come up in more than a year ago claiming 100% electrification in Jammu and Kashmir but the situation on ground is contrary as there are several such villages, hamlets and households who are without electricity even today.
He said that the false claims should expose during the 2nd phase of “Back to Village” as people have been protesting against lack of development, their claims in earlier phase which should be an eye opener especially BJP leaders who have been day in and day out issuing statements about claims of development because of lack of adequate funds to the Panchayats and villages. He stressed upon the need of more practical approach towards Panchayats by further empowering with adequate funds at their command to come up the expectations of the people in rural areas.
