Srinagar, Aug 1: Scores of people today  protested against dilapidated condition of Panzgam road in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The protesters converged on Panzgam-Bandipora road and shouted slogans against Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department. The protesters said that there are scores of pot holes on the road and they have widened due to incessant rains from past few months.
As mark of protest and to attract the attention of authorities, some local youths of Panzgam dropped fish in the potholes and turned it into a pond.
The protesters alleged that the concerned R&B officials are showing no interest in repairing the road. “They have zero interest in serving people. They claim of spending crores on development but on ground there is nothing visible,” the protesters said.
Panzgam is 3 kilometers away from District Headquarters. “Not only in Panzgam, but most of the roads in our district are in worse condition. The potholes are the common site in Bandipora,” the protesters said.
When contacted, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shah Faesal, told Excelsior the one kilometer long road at Panzgam was in plan but it was unapproved later. “It was in plan but later it was not approved,” he said.
