Protests over water scarcity in SDA Colony

SRINAGAR, Apr 4: Residents of SDA Colony, Noorbagh, Shivpora in Srinagar today held a protest demonstration against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department as the areas is without water supply.
The residents raised slogans against PHE Department and Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar for their failure to restore drinking water supply in these areas.
“We are without water supply from last three months,” protesters said, adding that our repeated pleas to the PHE Department and Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar have fallen to deaf ears.
The residents assembled in Press Colony and tried to march towards Lal Chowk, but the police already deployed there didn’t allow them to proceed and finally the protesters dispersed peacefully.
Pertinently, SDA Colony was developed by Government to rehabilitate those families, who earlier were residing on the banks of river Jhelum in Srinagar city.
