JAMMU, Jan 3: Seeking adequate ex-gratia relief and compensation to the affected farmers, Congress has said that farmers are worst neglected and sufferers in the BJP regime in the country and the slogan of Modi Govt to double the income of farmers has proved to be a hollow.
Addressing meeting of J&K Kissan Congress at PCC office here today, PCC chief GA Mir has said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi committed waiver of loans to farmers in MP and Rajasthan and it was done within days of Congress coming to power there but BJP has betrayed the farmers in the country by mere slogans, while farmers continue to suffer for genuine claims and rights.
He said that the Congress has forced the Modi Govt to take a U- turn on several occasions with regard to farmers policies, as Congress organized several Kissan rallies questioning the BJP’s pro-rich policies neglecting farmers. However, BJP Govt has only framed policies for the sake of advertisements only but the farmers are not getting adequate minimum support price and crop compensation.
Referring to large scale destruction of paddy in world famous RS Pura, Suchetgarh and other entire border belt from Hiranagar upto Akhnoor and even next wheat crop is impossible to be sown due to untimely heavy rains but the Govt still not announced any relief so far and the paddy is selling at throw away prices, much less to lost year rates.
The meeting was also attended by AICC Kissan Deptt vice chairman Surinder Solanki, vice president PCC and former minister Raman Bhalla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, AICC Co-ordinator incharge J&K Bharat Priya, State Chairman Kissan Congress Ch Gharu Ram, Secretary PCC, Soba Singh, PCC OBC Chairman Suresh Dogra, Ch Dawarka-Corporator.
AICC vice chairman Kissan Congress lashed out at the BJP Govt for neglecting the farmers in the country, who are in great distress all over. BJP Govt is expert to hoodwink the farmers but in reality the farmers are not getting due attention who are the backbone of the country. The pro-rich policies of Modi Govt have hit the farmers hard and they are not getting the proper rates of their produce to sustain. It is a matter of serious concern that entire paddy crop has suffered extensive loss in Jammu but the Govt has yet not provided any relief to the farmers.
He announced that Kissan Congress would launch a vigorous campaign to highlight the loss of the farmers in the state, especially rice belt of Jammu borders to force Govt to announce adequate relief and compensation.
Raman Bhalla questioned the anti-farmer policies of the BJP Govt as the farmers have been suffering great loss due to lack of implementation of pro-farmer schemes. He said farmers are not getting adequate price of their produce and their economic situation is worst due to unprecedented price hike.
Ch Gharu Ram highlighted the great loss to the paddy crop due to the heavy rains as 80 to 90 % crop is lost but the Govt has remained confined to assurances only. He said that farmers of border belt are worst sufferers due to regular border firing and now crop loss including next crop has broken their backbone and government is still unmoved.
