Vijaypur, Mar 12: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh has expressed concern over the damage to crops along the International Border (IB) in Vijaypur area following fresh flash floods in heavy rain falls.
During his visit to the border villages including Barota, Lagwal, Rangur Camp, and Kamor Camp, Nanga, Jagatpurmajjar, Manjit Singh was appraised about the problems being faced by the farmers in the border villages.
After listening to their concerns, Singh assured that their demands would be highlighted before the concerned authorities. He said that, due to heavy rains yesterday band on Basanter and Devak has damaged following which the flood water entered into the fields causing damage to the corps.
“The sand entered into the fields making them un-cultivatable,” he said, adding that last time also same band was damaged and the administration failed to construct it properly.
He demanded that the compensation should be enhanced to Rs 2000 per kanal so that the affected people could overcome from the damage.
