Provide compensation to border farmers: BCC

BISHNAH, Mar 3: Block Congress Committee (BCC) Bishnah has demanded compensation for the farmers for border belt whose land was affected due to cross firing and construction of separate building for Degree College in the town.
While addressing the BCC members in the meeting, former Minister and CMC member Gulchain Singh Charak stressed that special provision in the State budget be kept for providing compensation to the border farmers of the area whose land has been affected due to cross firing and no longer is being used for agricultural purposes. He also demanded compensation for the crop of the farmers recently damaged in hail-storm.
Mr Charak said Congress was committed for empowerment of Panchayats and it has been endorsed by the party high command several times. The State Government should immediately empower these institutions. He also favoured proper security for the Panchs and Sarpanchs. He urged the Government to send the team of Agriculture officers to assess the problem of yellow rust in crop and also make survey regarding damage suffered by the farmers due to hail-storm.
Several senior BCC members including president Capt Harshvardan Sharma, stressed for providing compensation to the border farmers and construction of separate Govt Degree College building at Bishnah. They said GDC at Arnia should also be started at the earliest. They stressed that de-silting work of the canals be expedited in the block. Dr Raghubir Singh, Dr Kuldip Singh, Dr O P Saini, and K C Mistry also addressed the gathering.
