Bhalla intervenes to pacify protesters

JAMMU, Aug 7: Former Minister and JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla has said that Government should provide adequate compensation to rain, flood hit people.
Bhalla said Bandhu Rakh power receiving station today got submerged in the rain water due to which the electricity was affected in the area.
Due to heavy rainfall and the rain water entered the station with the result it got submerged in the water. The water level kept increasing and water accumulated up to three to four feet. The electricity workers on duty immediately switched off the power from the Station and started waiting for the water to subside.
Meanwhile. aggrieved locals strongly protested against it and to show their resentment blocked Bishnah-Kunjwani road for a brief time. JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla on receipt of information reached Kunjwani to take stock of situation. He made a call to DC Jammu and brought into his notice emerging situation. Bhalla somehow pacified the protesters after concerned sent by DC asked Bhalla to pacify the protesters to clear the road. Due to timely intervention of former Minister, protesters were pacified and road was cleared.
Bhalla was accompanied by State Congress general secretary Satish Sharma, former Councillor Pritam Singh, Panch Ravindra Singh, former Naib Sarpanch Satnam Singh, Kamal Chaudhary, Baldev Singh Wazir, Suman Preet Singh, Sanjeev Katal, Janak Raj, Darshan Lal, Tarsem Lal besides others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that during Congress Govt, Bandhu Rakh Receiving Station was up-graded to 12.6 KVA with installation of 6.3 KVA transformer for improving power scenario at Ekta Vihar, Apna Vihar, Deep Nagar, Shanker Colony, Uttam Nagar, Shiva Colony, Shanti Nagar, Jogian Mohallah, Bandu Rakh besides some parts of Kaluchak.
Bhalla said that the need of augmentation of the station was felt in view of frequent power breakdowns being faced by the inhabitants of the areas due to increased load and low voltage, particularly during summer season. Bhalla said due to negligence of BJP Govt during rainy season enters water into receiving station and badly affects power supply. He asked the PDD functionaries to ensure regular power supply to metered areas of all these localities.
He was speaking during an interaction with people of various areas including Bahu Fort, Kalika Colony, Qasim Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Jalalabad-Bathindi, Trikuta Nagar, Shiva Colony, Gangyal, Pamposh Colony, Satwari, Gadigarh and Rani Bagh, who were subjected to undue ordeal due to incessant rain and flooding.
