BISHNAH, Nov 8: Congress has strongly resolved to fight against the anti-people policies of the BIP-led Union Government and its arm in the State against anti-people policies particularly in regard to grave dangers posed to the existence of the people in the light of new land laws and no move to protect the local people’s right to jobs and other means of employment.
This resolution was adopted by the leaders and workers of Bishnah tehsil who had gathered here today to discuss latest political developments and preparations for the ‘Tractor rally’ to be taken out by the party under the leadership of the AICC in charge of Jammu and Kashmir, Rajani Patil. The speakers poured scorn on the BJP’s Central as well as UT leadership for deliberately ignoring the interests of people of Jammu and sacrificing everything at the altar of their misguided agenda.
Addressing the meeting, former minister Jugal Kishore criticised the BJP and its leaders for failing to guard the interests of the people and instead turning a blind eye towards their genuine concerns. Despite promises held by you nothing as yet happened to protect the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu in particular. Where are the much touted measures to protect the land rights and provide job security to the local people, he asked.
Blaming the saffron party leaders for misleading the people in the name of garnering their votes by holding out false promises, he asked the Congress rank and file to fan out in their respective areas and expose the misdeeds of the BJP leaders and its Government.
MK Bhardwaj castigated the BJP dispensations for making the local unemployed youth and younger generations more vulnerable by not protecting their interests through job reservation for them. It is deplorable that while the BJP in its ruled States is announcing job reservations for local youth, they have done nothing of the sort in Jammu and Kashmir despite holding out false promises. The BJP rule Haryana Government has passed a Bill in the assembly to reserve 75 per cent private sector jobs for locals and on similar grounds its Government in Uttrakhand has proposed to reserve 70 per cent industrial jobs for locals.
“Follow the same yardstick for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and reserve 90 per cent jobs for them both in Government and private sectors,” he demanded.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Ashok Dubey, Kailash Saini, Surinder Saini, Satpal Sharma, Joginder Singh Sarpanch, Rajwant Singh, Jagdish Sharma and number of Panches of the area.
