Provide some relief to Hotel, Tour & Travel Industry: AJHLA

JAMMU, Feb 5: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has urged upon the Government to provide some relief to the ailing Hotel and Tour & Travel Industry in the Jammu and Kashmir.
In the meeting of office bearers of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association held today, the chairman, Inderjeet Khajuria lauded the J&K administration decision of waiving off/exemption of 50 percent of Passenger Tax chargeable on various vehicles for the period Ist April 2020 to March 31, 2021.
He said this decision would definitely give a relief to the operators of commercial transport who had suffered huge losses on account of COVID-19 induced nation-wide lockdowns and restrictions leading to non- operationalization of the public transport.
Pawan Gupta , president of the Association said that Tourism sector is worst sufferer of COVID pandemic and lockdowns have completely finished them This sector needs support from the Government.
The association appealed the J&K Administration to come to the rescue of tourism fraternity, viz., a hoteliers and dhaba-wallas, travel agents, dealers of Shawls and dry fruits and particularly budget hoteliers as all of them have great expectations from the Government . The dying budget hotel industry is in dire need of financial relief package plus exemption in water, electricity, municipal charges and other Government departmental fees till J&K becomes Covid free and such step would certainly help in the revival of sinking budget hotel industry.
Gupta further added that Government should do away with the imposition of weekend lockdowns as there is a sharp decline in corona cases and this step would certainly give a boost to the business activities especially the tourism trade.
Other office bearers present in the meeting were ML Sharma, Pritam Sharma, Anil Khajuria, Baldev Raj, HS Manhas, Sunil Suri, Swarn Singh, Varun Gupta, Sankul Gupta, Manpreet Singh and Nishant Gupta.
