JAMMU, Apr 26: Chief Justice of J&K High Court Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed today said that his endeavor would be to streamline the administration of justice and bring about reforms to provide speedy justice to the litigants.
Addressing a function organized by J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu to welcome him on his appointment as Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed said, “It shall be my endeavor to streamline the administration of justice and to bring about any kind of reforms to provide speedy justice to the litigants”.
“I have prepared a plan to bring up infrastructure of High Court as well as District Courts across the State. At the same time it would be my endeavor to use information technology to provide prompt and speedy justice to litigants”, Chief Justice further said.
“From the little time which I have spent in Jammu so far I have come to know that Bar here in Jammu as well as in Srinagar is competent enough to help the judiciary in dispensing justice to the litigants”, Justice Ahmed said and hoped that Bar will extend necessary cooperation in all his endeavors.
Stating that there was no scope for ego, he said, “we should not have any ego problem for the benefit of litigants….. especially I don’t have any such problem and I am always ready to strike balance in dispensing justice”.
Earlier, President of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu Senior Advocate B S Slathia informed the Chief Justice that people have been suffering because of non-listing of cases owing to shortage of Judges. “Though Judges are leaving no stone unturned to dispose of cases by working beyond their capacity yet there is a dire need to fill-up the vacant posts”, he added.
Stressing on early appointment of new Judges, whose names were recently cleared by the Supreme Court collegium and Union Law Ministry, the Bar President requested the Chief Justice to keep in mind that there is no lady Judge in the High Court ever since its constitution while making any recommendation in future.
Several Judges of the High Court, Registrar General, Advocate General and his team, office bearers of the Bar and large number of Advocates were present on the occasion.
