SRINAGAR, Mar 18: People’s Republican Party (PRP) in its meeting here today discussed the prevailing political situation in the State.
The meeting which was chaired by PRP senior leader Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani passed a resolution demanding that Kashmiri Pandits be given representation in the Government and Legislature and the tradition started from 1947 be maintained in this regard.
While strongly advocating for the political empowerment of Pandits, Mir said that on the one hand the Government is claiming the honorable return and rehabilitation of the displaced Pandits in the Valley but the same can’t be possible without giving representation to the community in political foras.
He said granting political representation to this miniscule minority will infuse confidence in it which is paramount for its return to Valley.
Mir while highlighting the other issues demanded PRP leaders who contested the Assembly elections be provided security. He also demanded that the campus of Central University should be shifted to Ganderbal and the local youth of the area whose land has been acquired for the Central University in the area be provided jobs as promised.
He also warned any move of the Government to shift the University to any other place.
