SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Rich tributes were paid to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his 107th birth anniversary by Peoples Republican Party (PRP) in specially orgised function here.
The programme, which was chaired by chief spokesperson of the Party, Mir Ghulam Rasool said that the greatest tribute to Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters would be that we should all work with dedication to fulfill their dreams.
Mir Said that Bhagat Singh’s dream was not only freedom from British Raj but making India self reliant where there is no hunger, no pain, no illiteracy, no oppression and suppression.
He said it is high time for introspection by all political parties whether in government or opposition that “have we achieved these goals in last 70 years of the freedom’’. “They should ponder that have we made India disease free, bridged the gap between rich and poor, ended the discrimination between different categories of people and allowed people irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and region to enjoy their fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution’’, he added.
He said a sizable number of people in the country are still deprived of basic amenities of life while many go without meals to bed. Many villages are deprived of safe drinking water, power supply, medical facilities, he added.
He said our fight should have been against these things which could be a real tribute to Bhagat Singh and thousands of other martyrs belonging to Hindu Muslim and Sikh communities who laid down their lives for the freedom of the nation.
