SRINAGAR, May 16: J&K Peoples Welfare Society (PRS) has urged the Government to regulate the fare of the school buses and make it uniform for all.
The PRS which met here, today under the leadership of Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani also demanded that the fee in private schools be also regulated and there should be no hike. He questioned the rationale of hiking the bus fare by Private Schools Association and justified the action of the School Education Department in this regard saying Private Schools Association has no mandate in this regard.
The PRS, while expressing its concern over commercialisation of education said it will have a bad effect on the society. He said education is a service and its commercialisation or corporatisation should not be allowed at any cost. Moreover the private schools taking huge amount as admission fee were fleecing the parents of students.
He said that the private schools should adhere to 12 percent hike in bus fare as decided by Government as they have no right to thrust their decision on the children or parents.
Moreover he also questioned the charging of building fee every year from the children and this way a huge amount is collected by them. He urged the Government to take cognisance of the same as the private schools instead of serving the society are fleecing the people.
