PSA rues Govt attitude towards small private schools

JAMMU, Jan 11: Jammu Kashmir Private Schools Association has expressed serious concern and dismay over the alleged callous attitude of the Government towards the small private schools which are rendering yeomen services in rural, semi urban and urban areas since long.
Executive members of the Central body of JKPSA have shown dismay over the postponement /suspension of the scheduled meeting on January 12 with the Secretary School Education and main stakeholders viz Presidents of Private Schools Associations (JKBOSE/CBSE) and parents association of private schools.
General Secretary of the Association, Ajay Gupta said all their hopes for a solution to end exploitation & teething problems had collapsed with the postponement of the scheduled meeting.
Main objective of this meeting was to revisit the draft J & K Private Schools (Fixation, Determination and regulation of Fee) Rules, 2021 and restoration of order number 01, issued by FFC in 2019 by virtue of which private schools were authorized to increase only 6 percent fee annually automatically.
“It (postponement) may have been done deliberately because in this time all of us can adopt virtual mode for meetings than postponement / suspension/ delay,” said Ajay Gupta.
Members present in the meeting discussed a number of issues which included haplessness of most of private school owners due to insufficient funds in paying timely emoluments to the staff along with EMI, insurance and problems in renewal of documents related to the school buses which are out of roads since March 2020.
Kamal Gupta, President of the Association, warned that if the Government does not mitigate problems of private schools of JKUT, then all school owners will hold a protest along with the schools buses at their respective districts and hand over the buses keys and documents to District Development Commissioners. In Jammu, the protest will be held in front of the Divisional Commissioner’s office.
