JAMMU, July 20: The Public Service Committee (PSC) Chairman of Railways, Ramesh Chandra Ratan today said that work on the Katra -Banihal track of Railway is in full swing.

Ratan, who was on tour of J&K visited various railway stations in the UT including Banihal, Udhampur, Katra, Budgam, Baramulla etc.
He while, talking to reporters here, today along with BJP leaders including former Deputy CM, Kavinder Gupta, Ex MLAs Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat and Prof Garu Ram said that after taking over as PM in 2014, Narendra Modi Government took various steps in improving railway service in the country and accused the Congress of increasing nepotism and corruption in its rule and dividing people on the caste, communal and regional basis.
He said the Swachta Mission which was a dream of the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi could not be fulfilled by Congress party and it was Narendra Modi who gave it a practical shape in 2014. Today from Minister to IAS , IPS officers and a peon take up broom in their hands to sweep the ground, offices , foot paths railway stations etc.
Ratan on Wednesday inspected the facilities for passengers and arrangements in place at Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
The PSC, along with members and railway officers including ADRM Jammu and DTM Jammu interacted with railway passengers in order to find out their experience of using the station.
Taking review of the facilities, the Chairman stressed upon all facilities to be made available to the passengers coming to Jammu Railway Station and laid thrust on cleanliness at Railway Station premises.
Ratan also batted for accurate and up to date information to the passengers about arrival and departure of trains while holding deliberations with officers posted at Jammu Railway Station.
The PSC team earlier on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements at Katra and Udhampur Railway Stations. The Committee members later left for Delhi.
Ratan, who is also a senior BJP leader, reviewed the functioning of the Jammu Railway Station during a meeting with the railway officials, besides other facilities during a meeting with officers of the Railway Police and Railway Protection Force.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu, Baldev Raj and Station Director, Sahiksha Singhla briefed him about measures being taken for ‘swachh’ Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
He narrated that the officers also conduct time to time surprise visits of vendors to prevent overcharging from the passengers and if anyone was found to be involved in the malpractice he would be fined on the spot.
The Chairman directed that appropriate steps should be taken for crowd control so that no accident takes place.
He also interacted with the passengers and enquired about the facilities. However, expressing satisfaction over the amenities at Jammu Railway Station, he presented a cash prize to the Station Superintendent, Jugal Kishore.
