PTA seeks upgradation of basic pay scale

JAMMU, Sept 25: Provincial Teachers’ Association (PTA) today sought upgradation of basic pay scale of teachers.
While commenting upon the recent notification issued by the State Government making graduation as basic qualification for appointment of teachers under NCTE, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, Avtar Singh, president and Kabla Singh, general secretary, said that if Government really wants to improve standard of education in the State then it should also upgrade basic pay scale of the teachers.
“Besides, subject wise teachers are required to be provided in all educational institutions along with suitable accommodation, proper teaching equipments and other institutional requirements, which may also help improve educational standard in the State”, they asserted.
They also reiterated the demands for implementation of 7th Pay Commission’s report in the State, enhancement of monthly medical allowance of State employees and pensioners from existing paltry rate of Rs 300 to at least Rs 1000, regularization of adhoc/contractual teachers on completion of 7 years of service, etc.
