JAMMU, Mar 4: J&K Panthers Trade Union (PTU) today urged the Government to regularize services of SPOs and VDCs, who are working for last many years in the State.
Addressing a press conference, Sewa Singh Bali, general secretary, PTU, appealed the new PDP-BJP coalition Government to regularize all SPOs and VDCs who are working for the last many years in the State.
He said that SPOs are being paid a meager amount of Rs 3000 per month, due to which they are facing a lot of financial constraints. “Taking into account their services and keeping in view the security threats from terrorists, all those SPOs and VDCs which have been working in the State for last many years should be regularized”, he added.
He said that the matter had been already taken up with Governor NN Vohra, Divisional Commissioner (DC), Jammu and DGP of J&K State, but till date no action has been taken in this regard and the concerned authorities turned deaf ear to the genuine voice of the aggrieved SPOs and VDCs.
He also demanded that youth of Ramban should be given priority for engagement in construction of four lanes National Highway from Nashri to Banihal.
Alleging that waiting for 100 days work under MGNREGA since 2013, the job cards of unemployed youth have become the diet of termite; Bali appealed the Government that all the job card holders should be employed as soon as possible under MGNREGA so that they may earn bread for their families.
He also urged State Police Chief to organize a special police recruitment drive for the unemployed youth of far flung areas of the Tehsil Ukhral.
Others present on the occasion were Paramjit Singh Marshal, president PTU, Sheikh Mohd Saleem, Naveen Bali, press secretary, Shushil, Sadique Mohd and Raj Kumar.
