Public demands closure of Hotmix plant in Thanna

RAJOURI, Nov 29: The public of Saj, Planghar, Badhakana, Bhattian, Hasyote and adjoining areas has demanded closure of a Hotmix plant functioning in Bhattian area, a densely populated area in Tehsil Thannamandi of Rajouri district.
The plant was established recently in village Bhattian and locals asked how Pollution Control Board/ Committee has granted NOC for establishment of Hotmix plant in residential areas without thinking about health hazards to the public.
The smoke from the plant irritating locals and making their life difficult. The huge smoke arising from the plant is creating a threat to their health. It is also harmful for their crop and causing air pollution in the area.
The locals urged the District administration to order closure of this plant in view of health hazards to the residents of the area.
