KATHUA, Feb 5: The three-day Public Information Campaign (PIC) organized by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jammu in collaboration with district administration Kathua concluded here today.
In the valedictory function, Additional Director General (Media & Communication), Press Information Bureau, Ministry of I&B, Govt of India Bharti Vaid was the chief guest.
Public Information Campaign (PIC) is a part of Centre’s outreach strategy through which information about various public welfare schemes is provided to people at their doorsteps by adopting multi-media techniques.
While addressing the gathering, Bharti Vaid impressed upon the audience, participating departments and students to create awareness among the common masses about Government sponsored schemes so that they can avail maximum benefits out of them and thereby the objective of organizing such mega events can be fulfilled.
Three-day long event saw participation from different state as well as central Departments. People in large numbers thronged the venue to gather first-hand information about welfare schemes, Government’s policies and programmes. Besides cultural programmes by Song & Drama Division artists, lectures were delivered by experts on different themes to inform people about the benefits of Central Governments welfare schemes.
A multilingual Mushaira organized by District Information Centre Kathua was main attraction of the day. Prominent poets including T.R Sumbria, Vijay Sharma, Sardar Hardev Singh, Sham Khajuria, Renu Padha and R.S Katal participated in the event.
Compositions were recited in Hindi, Urdu, Dogri and Punjabi languages. Through their write ups, poets criticized the practice of gender disparity which thrives on nurturing social evils like female foeticide, sex determination etc. The Mushaira attracted gathering of all ages and remained key attraction during the culmination day celebrations.
The district administration appreciated PIBs initiative of bringing information to the door steps of people. Mementos were presented to all the participating departments as well as district administration authorities by the Chief Guest. Earlier the dignitaries were received by Media & Communications Officer, PIB Jammu Sunil Koul.
DDC Kathua Ramesh Kumar, SSP Kathua Neeva Jain and other officers of the district administration were present on the occasion. Like the first two days, the valedictory day also remained abuzz with cultural activities presented by troupes of Song and Drama Division and school children.
