Public protest as man crushed to death on NH

KATHUA, Dec 14: People from Talli village held protest demonstration on National Highway at Dayala Chak and disrupted movement of traffic for some time after a local was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle on National Highway late last evening.
Reports said the people including relatives of the deceased came out on the Highway at Dayala Chak  at around 11 am and staged protest for about half an hour. They were shouting slogans against the police. They alleged that some cops were there at the main chowk when the vehicle hit  Bodh Raj (34), son of Des Raj of village Talli at around 7.30 pm last evening. The cops remained unmoved and failed to pass on message to naka points or chase the vehicle which sped away after hitting Bodh Raj.
The victim also kept lying there for some time and later removed to Hiranagar hospital where doctors declared him as dead.  The people alleged negligence on the part of policemen and demanded action against them. However, after the intervention of some senior officials, the road was cleared.  The police has registered a case for investigation but the vehicle could not be traced. Bodh Raj was working in the CAPD as Class IV employee.
