Public warned not to move near River Chenab

JAMMU, June 16: The management of Dulhasti Power Station has cautioned general public of Doda and Kishtwar districts and of Dul, Benzwar, Cherhar, Bhandarkot, Hasti, Kandani, Prem Nagar and Pul Doda not to move near River Chenab on June 18 from 00:30 hrs to 18:30 hrs.
The project management said that the gates of Dulhasti Power Station Dam shall be opened for periodical reservoir flushing on June 18 and during this period the water level may rise 2 to 3 meters.
Therefore, the public residing near River Chenab downstream areas is being cautioned to refrain from moving themselves /their cattle/ trucks and tippers near the banks of River Chenab to avoid any mishap and to co-operate for the safety of their lives.
“Anybody violating the request shall be doing so at his own risk and responsibility and NHPC/management of Dulhasti Power Station shall not be responsible for consequences thereof”, the DPS management said.
