JAMMU: A meeting of the Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Sat Paul Sharma to examine the Audit Paras pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC).
Threadbare discussion was held on CAGs Audit Report pertaining to JKTDC for the year 2002-03 and 2015-16 regarding delay in construction of building besides the overall functioning of the JKTDC and JK State Cable Car Corporation (JKSCC).
Legislators, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Abdul Majid Larmi, Rajeev Sharma and Vikram Randhawa attended the meeting and gave their suggestions regarding early sorting out of the related audit paras of the department.
During the discussion, the Committee expressed concern over the lapses on part of the department in furnishing the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the recommendations and directions given by the Committee in its 42nd Report and directed the concerned authorities to come up with full preparation in its next meeting.
However, the Committee was satisfied with the progress on ongoing construction works of the Corporation Office of JKSCC at Bemina, Srinagar and decided to drop the related audit para with the condition that the office will function in new complex by March, 2018.
It was also decided in the meeting that the Committee will conduct on the spot inspection of Mubarak Mandi Bagh-e-Bahu Cable Car project to review progress on the work on 21st November, 2017.
The members of the Committee also highlighted various issues regarding development of tourism sector in the state and stressed on the concerned authorities to expedite the work on all ongoing projects of the Corporation.
Secretary, Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, and Managing Director, JKSCC, Shamim Ahmed Wani briefed the Committee about the action taken by the Corporation on the observations made by the CAG in its reports besides other activities of the department.
The Committee was also informed about the present status of the working of various projects of the Corporation. It was assured that the Corporation will take up all necessary steps to promote the tourism infrastructure in the state on priority basis.
Deputy Accountant General, Audit, V K Bakshi also briefed the Committee about the observations made by CAG in its report pertaining to JKTDC.
Among others, Additional Secretary, Tourism Gulzar Ahmed, FA/CAO, Yasir Sharief, AO, JKCCC Shafiq Sidiqui besides Deputy Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and other senior officers of concerned departments were also present in the meeting.
